This is the classic Marrakech-to-south day: serpentine Atlas roads, tea stops with mountain views, then the ochre towers of Aït Benhaddou rising from the riverbed.
We continue toward Ouarzazate for a sense of the desert gateways - film studios and kasbah silhouettes - before the return drive in late light.
